I got up close and personal with death at the young age of 8. My grandpa, a hero to me, got brain cancer. My mom thought she had to bear the burden and drop everything in her life to care for him. Only she couldn't. As an empath, I could sense her pain and offered to tag along and help her out, and she, drowning from the weight of it all, took the life preserver. We watched night after night my Grandpa inch closer to death.
